Vishnu ton power Cambridge to ADSL semi-finals
Published on Jan 20, 2017
Vishnu Menon cracked 161 for The Cambridge High School to rally from their opening game blues, booking their passage in the semi-finals of the UAE Xchange U12 Abu Dhabi School League.
His feisty 86-ball knock not only helped his team win by 101 runs over Abu Dhabi Indian School (ADIS) but took them to the summit of Group B at the end of the league stage at the Zayed Cricket Academy grounds.
They now face Sunrise while Bright Riders, the defending champions, meet Bhavans who edged out ADIS on a superior run rate after all three teams in their group were tied on equal points.
Vishnu, opening the inning, smashed 28 fours and two sixes. He was on the last delivery of their inning after Cambridge amassed 213 for four. ADIS in reply could only muster 112 for four with Pratham Seetharam falling short of a half century by one run. ADIS also bounced back to defeat Bhavans by 27 runs yet fell short of qualifying into the knockout stage on the run rate.
Elanchezhian Kaviyan produced a fine all-round performance for ADIS. He anchored the inning with a 54-ball 42 not out, took an excellent catch at cover to get rid of Bhavan s mainstay Surya Kiran and returned with excellent figures of 3.3-0-25-5. Sunrise booked their passage behind Bright Riders from group A after a narrow 12-run victory over Merryland International.
