Pakistan School begin title defence with win over Bright Riders

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Pakistan School got their title defence of the UAE Xchange U14 Abu Dhabi School League off to winning start. They eased to a 36-run win over Bright Riders.

Joining them as winners of the opening round games were Emirates Future International, Model and Abu Dhabi Indian School at the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council s Nursery Ovals.

Haji ur Rahman hit four sixes and three fours in an entertaining 24-ball 51 not out while Anwar Khan struck 31 off 16 for Pakistan School to post 153 for eight after being 50 for six in 10 overs.

In the other games, Sameer Vijay stroked a fine half century and grabbed two wickets for Emirates Future International to open their campaign with victory over Bhavans by 12 runs.

He anchored the inning with a well-compiled 57 off 47 balls that was highlighted by five hits to the fence. Rahul Alokkan (18), Mohammed Yousuf (17) and Sahal Siddik (13) chipped in with useful contributions to put up a decent total on the board for their bowlers to defend at the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council s Nursery Oval-2. Half centuries from Khaja Saifuddin and Essam Ahmed set the platform for Emirates Future International to emerge winners by 16 runs over Bhavans.

The pair batted the whole 20 overs to put up 142 for no loss and Bhavans were restricted to 126 for nine with Omran Gul and Muzzafar Ahmed taking five wickets between them. ADIS made short work of Sunrise. They bowled them out for 46 and knocked off the winning runs in 6.1 overs.
