Shahid and Hussaini shine in Zayed Cricket Academy s victory

Fazal Shahid hit a breezy 71 and Burhanullah Hussaini grabbed four wickets for Zayed Cricket Academy to ease to a 124-run win over Sharjah Cricket Academy in the UAE Under 17 National Academy tournament.
Zayed Academy electing to bat first posted 196 for four and Sharjah were bundled out for 72 at the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council s Nursery Oval.
Shahid, who won the Most Valuable Player award in the recently concluded UAE Xchange U16 Abu Dhabi School League while leading Emirates Future International to the title, slammed eight fours and a six in his 64-ball stay at the crease.
The diminutive opener shared a 67-run partnership for the first wicket with Sahil Hariani, who was a tad too slow, contributing 14 off 34 balls. However, the partnership paved the way for the home side to put up a challenging total at the end, thanks to 53 extras, of which 46 were off wides (not re-bowled but awarded two runs), and a useful 22-ball knock 29 not out from Osama Hassan.
Hussaini then blew away the Sharjah top order by taking three wickets in three overs, followed by a wicket each from left arm seamer Shah Faisal and spinner Umair Asghar, which left the visitors struggling at 25 for five from which they never recovered. Asghar and left arm spinner Roshen Mendis bowling in tandem snapped up four wickets between them in a combined 12 overs.
Hussaini returning for his second spell snapped up his fourth wicket before Abhishek Prakash took the remaining wicket to wrap up Sharjah s inning for Zayed Academy to complete their fourth win in five games.
Scores in brief:
Zayed Cricket Academy 196 for 4 in 30 overs (Fazal Shahid 71, Osama Hassan 29 not out) bt Sharjah Cricket Academy 72 all out in 25.2 overs (Burhanullah Hussaini 4-23, Roshen Mendis 2-8, Umair Asghar 2-19).
