Five-time champions, The Cambridge High School, suffered a 50-run defeat at the hands of Abu Dhabi Indian School in the UAE Xchange U19 Abu Dhabi School League.
Akhilesh Ramesh and Jonathan Figy set the platform for ADIS with a 105-run partnership for the first wicket for them to post 163 for three and Cambridge could only muster 113 for seven in reply at the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council s Nursery Oval-2.
Ramesh played a captain s knock. He gave his team a heady start by outscoring his more illustrious opening partner Figy, the UAE U19 international, to reach the half century first.
Ramesh hit nine fours in his 51-ball knock 59 while Figy motored on after his captain s departure for a top score of 66. His 50-ball knock was studded with five fours and two sixes, and was out in the last over of their inning.
In the other games, Shining Star International registered their first win in the competition and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Pakistan School opened their account with a 45-run win over Bright Riders.
Pragil Ganapriyan grabbed five wickets to steer Shining Star to a 15-run triumph over Sunrise while a combined effort from Pakistan School saw them through over their first hurdle comfortably.
The ADSL sponsored by UAE Exchange Centre and co-sponsored by former Emirates Cricket Board and ADCC president Dilawar Mani is conducted by the ADCC under the aegis of ECB.
