Published on Aug 15, 2016

Sailles Jaishankar produced an excellent spell of medium pace bowling to lead Zayed Cricket Academy to a resounding 56-run win over Skillz Academy of England in the U13 Sportarabia Worldwide Sussex County Cricket Club annual tournament.

Opening the bowling, he snapped up three of the four early wickets to leave Skillz reeling at 20 for four before returning for his second spell to return with figures of 6.3-1-20-5 at the Ardingly College grounds on Monday.

Sailles was well supported by his new ball partner Aditya Titus (2-30) and Athul Murali (2-16) Zayed Cricket Academy taking first lease of the wicket posted 199 for seven and Skillz in reply were shot out for 143 in 33.3 overs in a competition played in a league format that also include Dorset, Jersey, Herts and host Sussex.

The visitors lost Vishnu Menon (2) when the score was three before a second wicket stand of 65 between Sidharth Ramesh (45), the captain who walked in at No.3, and Nikhil Menon (9) rebuilt their inning.

Zayed Cricket Academy suffered another blow when both Sidharth and Nikhil fell at 67. However, contributions from Samir Vijay (25), a little cameo knock from Zaid Shaikh, 34 not out from 26 balls, highlighted by two sixes and two fours, and with Soorya Sathish chipping in with a useful 19 not out from 17 balls, took their score to 199 for seven.

Scores in brief:

Zayed Cricket Academy 199 for 7 in 40 overs (Sidharth Ramesh 45, Zaid Shaikh 34 not out, Samir Vijay 25) bt Skillz Academy 143 all out in 33.3 overs (Sailles Jaishankar 5-20, Aditya Titus 2-30, Athul Murali 2-16).
